4.2 INDICATIONS FOR USE, SPECIFYING THE TARGET SPECIES
As an anaesthetic agent. Specific indications include:-
_Cat - Vetalar alone_: Handling of fractious animals, wound repair, lancing abscesses, radiography and other minor and
brief surgical procedures were muscle relaxation is not required.
_Cat - Vetalar/xylazine_: Spaying, castration, laparotomy, wound treatment, radiography, fracture repair, etc.
_Cat - Vetalar/medetomidine_: Spaying, castration, laparotomy, wound treatment, radiography, fracture repair, etc.
_Dog - Vetalar/xylazine_: To induce and maintain surgical anaesthesia in the dog. Short, seizure like movements can
occasionally occur during anaesthesia, therefore, this technique is not recommended for delicate surgical procedures, e.g.,
delicate orthopaedic or eye surgery.
