COMPOUND
LINCTUS IS USED FOR
Russedyl
Compound
Linctus
is
used for:
•
An aid in the suppression of
dry irritating coughs day and
night.
HOW
RUSSEDYL
COMPOUND
LINCTUS WORKS
Pholcodine
works
on
the
cough
centre in the brain to control and
stop coughing.
Promethazine blocks the effects of
the
naturally
occurring
chemical
histamine in your body. It reduces
the sensitivity of the nerve endings
and
blocks
the
transmission
of
excessive
nerve
impulses
to
the
vomiting centre.
Phenylephrine
works
by
constricting
(shrinking)
blood
vessels in the sinuses and nose to
decrease congestion.
BEFORE
YOU
USE
RUSSEDYL
COMPOUND LINCTUS
_When you must not use it _
Do not take Russedyl Compound
Linctus if you:
•
are
allergic
to
any
medicine
containing
pholcodine,
promethazine
or
phenylephrine.
•
have liver disease
•
have a very serious breathing
problem (ventilatory failure)
•
have
chronic
bronchitis
(inflammation of the airways)
•
have bronchiectasis (abnormal
widening
of
one
or
more
airways)
•
are
taking
or
have
taken
monoamine oxidase inhibitors,
medicines
used
to
treat
depression, in the last 2 weeks.
Do
not
use
this
medicine
in
children under 6 years of age.
Do not take this medicine after the
expiry date printed on the pack or
if the packaging is torn or shows
signs of tampering.
If it has expired or is damaged,
return it to your pharmacist for
disposal.
If you are not sure whether you
should start taking this medicine,
talk to your pharmacist or doctor.
