EFFECTS OF THIS MEDICINE
This medicine increases bowel peristalsis to move intestinal contents
such as stool towards
the anus and inhibits absorption of water from the intestinal tract
into the body to promote
bowel movement.
It is usually used as a bowel-cleansing agent for excretion of stools
from the large bowel and
cleansing of the large bowel to appropriately perform colonoscopy
(including large bowel
surgery).
THE FOLLOWING PATIENTS MAY NEED TO BE CAREFUL WHEN USING THIS
MEDICINE.BE SURE TO TELL YOUR DOCTOR
AND PHARMACIST.
・If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch,
rash, etc.) to any medicines
or foods.
If you are suspected of having gastrointestinal/intestinal obstruction
or acute abdomen.
If you have intestinal perforation, toxic megacolon, renal
dysfunction, congestive heart
failure, cardiac dysfunction, hypermagnesemia, a history of abdominal
surgery, intestinal
stenosis, constipation, intestinal diverticulum, inflammatory bowel
disease (such as
ulcerative colitis and Crohns disease) or abnormal bowel movements.
If you choke often on food or drink.
・If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
・If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may
interact to enhance or
diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and
dietary supplements
as well as other prescription medicines.)
