WHAT IS IN THIS LEAFLET 
 
Please read this leaflet carefully before you start to use your
medicine. It answers some 
common questions about Crystacide Cream. 
 
Keep the leaflet with the medicine. You may need to read it again. 
 
The information in this leaflet only applies to Crystacide Cream. 
 
WHAT CRYSTACIDE CREAM IS USED FOR AND HOW IT WORKS 
 
Your medicine is called Crystacide Cream 1%. It is a smooth pearly
white cream. 
 
Crystacide cream is a first aid cream used for the treatment and
prevention of minor skin 
infections such as acne, cuts, scrapes, burns or school sores. 
 
The active ingredient of Crystacide cream is hydrogen peroxide in a
concentration of 1% 
w/w. 
 
Hydrogen peroxide is a potent agent against many types of bacteria,
and some fungi and 
viruses. It acts by destroying essential components of the cells of
these organisms. 
 
If you are concerned about any aspect of your treatment with
Crystacide cream, talk to your 
doctor or pharmacist. 
 
ADVICE BEFORE USING CRYSTACIDE CREAM 
 
Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you are sensitive to any of the
ingredients of Crystacide 
cream listed at the end of this leaflet. 
 
Crystacide cream should not be used in the presence of
iodine, permanganate and any other 
strong oxidising agents. 
 
HOW TO USE CRYSTACIDE CREAM 
 
Follow your pharmacist's or doctor's instructions. Always check the
label for directions on 
how to use your medicine. Your pharmacist or doctor will help if you
are not sure. 
 
CRYSTACIDE CREAM IS FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY. 
 
The wound should be cleansed with water and a mild soap before
applying Crystacide 
cream. It should be applied 2-3 times a day, or
when needed, to the affected areas. If an 
occlusive dressing is used, one application a day may
be sufficient. A dry film may appear on 
the skin after application; this can easily be washed off with
water.

10 mg hydrogen peroxide per gram of cream (1% w/w).

4 CLINICAL PARTICULARS
4.1
Therapeutic indications
For the prevention and treatment of primary and secondary superficial
skin infections such
as acne, cuts, scrapes, burns or school sores caused by organisms
sensitive to hydrogen
peroxide.
4.2
Dose and method of administration
After cleansing the wound, apply Crystacide cream 2-3 times daily on
the affected skin area.
The treatment period should not exceed 3 weeks.
A dry film will appear on the skin after application - this can be
washed off with water.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any of the constituents of the product.
4.4
Special warnings and precautions for use
Contact with the eyes should be avoided.
4.5
Interaction with other medicines and other forms of interaction
Crystacide cream is incompatible with iodine, permanganates and other
stronger oxidising
agents.
4.6
Fertility, pregnancy and lactation
While there are no known harmful effects when Crystacide Cream is used
by pregnant or
breastfeeding women, it should only be used under medical guidance.

Effects on ability to drive and use machines
Not applicable.

Undesirable effects
Crystacide is generally well tolerated and not associated with any
serious side effects.
However, a mild sensation of burning may be experienced for a short
time after application.
Reporting of suspected adverse reactions
Reporting suspected adverse reactions after authorisation of the
medicine is important. It
allows continued monitoring of the benefit/risk balance of the
