Silver Nitrate BP/PhEur     -     95 % w/w. 

3. PHARMACEUTICAL FORM 

Solid caustic tip. 

4. CLINICAL PARTICULARS 

4.1. THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS  

For the removal of warts (including verrucae) and granulation
tissue, for cautery and as a caustic, on 
skin and mucous membranes.  

4.2. POSOLOGY AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION 

For topical (external) use only. Each Applicator is for a single
use. The flexible plastic handle may 
be shaped to suit the particular operation if appropriate.
Surrounding areas of healthy tissue should 
be protected as necessary. The tip is moistened with suitably clean
water and applied topically to 
the area to be treated for up to 2 minutes. The
operation may be repeated after 24 hours up to a total 
of 3 daily applications for a wart, 6 for a plantar verruca.
Must be used strictly according to the 
instructions supplied with the product in view of its
caustic / staining nature. 

4.3. CONTRAINDICATIONS 

Caustics are not suitable for use near the eyes or
other sensitive areas of the body. Not for genital 
warts. 

4.4. SPECIAL WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS FOR USE 

For single-patient use only. Must be used
strictly according to instructions. 

4.5. INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER MEDICAMENTS AND OTHER FORMS
OF INTERACTION

4.6. PREGNANCY AND LACTATION

4.8. UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS 

Chronic application of silver nitrate or its products
to conjunctiva, mucous membranes or open 
wounds may lead to a condition known as argyria, an accumulation
of silver metal or compounds in 
the connective tissues resu
