A powered lifting device to allow women to be raised and lowered in and out of a birthing bath, providing a safe environment where the midwife and doctor can be in control of the labour at any stage of its progress. The lift prevents physical injuries to medical staff (such as back injury). In an emergency it will allow for the rapid removal of a patient from the water and immediate commencement of CPR.
