DOSAGE
Pigs over 21 days, cattle and sheep:
20 mg/kg (ie. 1 mL per 10 kg) bodyweight.
Piglets under 21 days:
Up to 1 day 0.2 mL
1 to 7 days 0.3 mL
7 to 14 days 0.4 mL
14 to 21 days 0.5 mL
USES
For the treatment and control of a wide range of common systemic,
respiratory and local
infections caused by or associated with organisms sensitive to
oxytetracycline in cattle, sheep
and pigs. Following intramuscular injection persistent blood levels
are provided for up to three
days. Peak antibacterial levels are achieved in four to eight hours.
Oxytetrin LA injection is
therefore suitable for the treatment of acute infections.
PRECAUTIONS
Do not administer to animals with severe liver or kidney insufficiency
or which are known to be
hypersensitive to tetracyclines.
ADMINISTRATION
Administer by deep intramuscular injection – in the anterior half of
the neck. The maximum
volume of injection at any one site is 20 mL in cattle, 10 mL in pigs
and 5 mL in sheep.
If repeat treatment is administered, use a separate injection site.
WITHHOLDING PERIODS
IT IS AN OFFENCE FOR USERS OF THIS PRODUCT TO CAUSE RESIDUES EXCEEDING
THE RELEVANT MRL IN
THE FOOD NOTICE: MAXIMUM RESIDUE LEVELS FOR AGRICULTURAL COMPOUNDS.
MEAT: Animals producing meat or offal for human consumption must not
be sold for slaughter
either during treatment or within 28 days of the last treatment.
