EFFECTS OF THIS MEDICINE
This medicine improves nervous symptoms due to diabetes mellitus such
as numbness/pain in
limbs and abnormality of vibrating sensation by inhibiting aldose
reductase and suppressing
intraneuronal accumulation of sorbitol.
It is usually used to improve subjective symptoms (numbness and pain),
abnormal vibratory
sensation or abnormal heart rate variability associated with diabetic
peripheral neuropathy
(when elevated glycosylated hemoglobin levels are observed).
