4.2 INDICATIONS FOR USE, SPECIFYING THE TARGET SPECIES
Treatment and prevention of mixed infections of gastro-intestinal nematodes, respiratory nematodes and certain
arthropod parasites in sheep.
Moxidectin is indicated for treatment of infections caused by moxidectin sensitive strains of:
- Gastro-intestinal nematodes:
_Haemonchus contortus _(adults and L3)
_Ostertagia (Teladorsagia) circumcincta _(adults and L3, including inhibited larvae)
_Trichostrongylus axei _(adults)
_Trichostrongylus colubriformis _(adults and L3)
_Nematodirus spathiger _(adults)
_Cooperia curticei (macmasteri_) (adults)
_Cooperia punctata _(adults)
_Oesophagostomum columbianum _(L3)
_Chabertia ovina _(adults)
- Respiratory tract nematodes
_Dictyocaulus filaria _(adults)
- Larvae of Diptera . _Oestrus ovis: _L1, L2, L3
- Mange mites
_Psoroptes ovis_
Trials have shown that moxidectin is effective against certain strains of _Haemonchus contortus_, _Teladorsagia_
_circumcincta _and _Trichostrongylus _spp. resistant to benzimidazoles.
The product has a persistent action and protects sheep against infection or re-infection with the following parasites for
the period indicated:
