A device intended to be worn by health professionals during surgery and during nursing to catch the bacteria shed in liquid droplets and aerosols from the wearer's mouth and nose. It is made of a nonwoven fabric created using a melt blowing process that enables the user to breathe normally through the mask, and is held in place with ties that fasten at the back of users' head or ear. They form part of the personal protective equipment (PPE) used to minimize mucous membrane exposure to infectious microbial droplets. The masks shall be supplied with storage instructions and disposed of in accordance with local policies and procedures.
