Pyrethrum is a chrysanthemum derivative; the powdered, dried flower

insecticidal activity producing both
knock-down and mortality in a range of insects, and low mammalian
toxicity. Common names:

Directions for use: Part feathers and apply powder all over body,
particularly under
wings and tail so that powder penetrates to the skin. Avoid eyes.
Apply sparingly using
3-5g powder (from 4-6 gentle puffs) per bird according to size. For
best results leave
birds in basket in a dark place for one hour after treatment, then
liberate. Repeat every
3-4 days if necessary, until infestation is cleared. Use occasionally
as a precaution,
particularly after racing or showing. While treating birds, to help
prevent re-infestation,
a little powder may be dusted on the surroundings where mites breed
