SCHEDULING STATUS: Not scheduled. PROPRIETARY NAME (and dosage form): GAL TABLETTE N.F. COMPOSITION: Each tablet contains SENNA Dry Extract containing Sennosides A and B equivalent to 7,5 mg Sennoside B. PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION: A 11.5 Laxatives. PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION: Sennosides A and B are a natural complex of anthraquinone glycosides found in senna. The active ingredients (viz. Glycosides) are absorbed from the intestinal tract and the active anthraquinones liberated in the course of breakdown are excreted largely into the colon, which is thereby stimulated. INDICATIONS: Constipation. CONTRA-INDICATIONS: Undiagnosed abdominal pains and patients with symptoms of appendicitis or intestinal obstruction, nausea and vomiting. WARNINGS: Frequent or prolonged use of this preparation may result in dependence on laxatives. It you have noticed a sudden change in bowel habits that has persisted for a period of longer than two weeks, consult a doctor before using the laxative. DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE: ADULTS: The usual dose is between 2 to 4 tablets which may be increased or decreased depending on the response. CHILDREN OVER THE AGE OF 6 YEARS: Half the adult dose.
