DANGEROUS POISON
PRECAUTION:
Chlorofume 500-500 Soil Fumigant is a highly
dangerous liquid containing Methyl Bromide and
Chloropicrin. When released it turns into a gas. Both
liquid and gas are poisonous. Application of Chlorofume
500-500 Soil Fumigant should not be made when
there is little or no air movement or when there is an
inversion.
Signs as below must be prominently shown at all
approaches to fumigation site.

Station a guard at the treatment site to prevent entry
of unauthorised persons, children and animals during
treatment and aeration period.
After fumigation, aerate structures well, until halide
detector indicates fumigation area free of methyl
bromide.
DO NOT drop, bump or drag cylinders.
DO NOT unload by rope-sling, hooks or tongs.
Keep cylinders upright in tamper-proof airy stores,
away from dwellings, food and feedstuffs. Put out all
pilot lights and glowing heating units.
DO NOT apply near buildings inhabited by humans
or livestock.
SOIL FUMIGATION:
Plant growth has occasionally been unsatisfactory in
soil treated with Methyl Bromide. Difficulty has been
experienced with carnations, conifers, holly, multiflora
roses, snapdragons and other ornamental plants and
shrubs. Ensure treated soil or material is free from
Methyl Bromide before seeding or using. Working the
soil will help aeration. Prevent contamination of
fumigated areas. If necessary to avoid flooding, trench
around them or build wooden or earthen dams. Clean
shoes carefully when walking from untreated to treated

STATEMENT OF HAZARDOUS NATURE
This product is classified as: Xi, Irritating. T, Toxic. N,
Dangerous to the environment. Hazardous according to the
criteria of SWA.
Dangerous according to the Australian Dangerous Goods (ADG) Code.
RISK PHRASES: R21, R25, R26, R41, R50, R37/38. Harmful in contact
with skin. Toxic if swallowed. Very toxic by
inhalation. Risk of serious damage to eyes. Very toxic to aquatic
organisms. Irritating to respiratory system and skin.
SAFETY PHRASES: S20, S23, S24, S38, S36/37/39. When using, do not
eat or drink. Do not breathe vapours. Avoid
contact with skin. In case of insufficient ventilation,
wear suitable respiratory equipment. Wear suitable protective
clothing, gloves and eye/face protection.
