EFFECTS OF THIS MEDICINE
This medicine increases urine output by suppressing reabsorption of
Na+ and Cl- in distal
tubules and excreting excess salt into the urine. It consequently
lowers blood pressure and
removes edema.
It is usually used to treat hypertension, edema, and premenstrual
tension.
THE FOLLOWING PATIENTS MAY NEED TO BE CAREFUL WHEN USING THIS
MEDICINE.BE SURE TO TELL YOUR DOCTOR
AND PHARMACIST.
・If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch,
rash, etc.) to any medicines
or foods.
If you have anuria, acute renal failure, decreased sodium or potassium
in body fluids, liver
cirrhosis, liver disease or dysfunction, coronary sclerosis,
arteriosclerosis, diarrhea or
vomiting, hypercalcemia or hyperparathyroidism.
If you or any of your parents or siblings have/has diabetes mellitus
or gout.
If you are on salt reduction therapy.
・If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
・If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may
interact to enhance or
diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and
dietary supplements
as well as other prescription medicines.)
