PATIENT PACKAGE INSERT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PHARMACISTS' REGULATIONS (PREPARATIONS) - 1986 THE DISPENSING OF THIS MEDICINE REQUIRES A DOCTOR'S PRESCRIPTION READ THIS PACKAGE INSERT CAREFULLY IN ITS ENTIRETY BEFORE USING THIS MEDICINE THE FORMAT OF THIS LEAFLET WAS DETERMINED BY THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND ITS CONTENT WAS CHECKED AND APPROVED BY IT IN NOVEMBER 2010 QUININE SULFATE TABLETS COMPOSITION: Each tablet contains: Quinine Sulfate 300 mg INACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Avicel, Maize Starch, Talc, Magnesium Stearate, Aerosil, Sucrose, Gelatin, AC-Di-Sol, Carboxymethyl Cellulose Sodium THERAPEUTIC GROUP: Antimalarial. THERAPEUTIC ACTIVITY: For treatment of malaria. WHEN SHOULD THE PREPARATION NOT BE USED? Do not use this medicine if you have a deficiency of the enzyme G6PD (sensitivity to fava beans). Do not use this medicine if there is a known sensitivity to any of its ingredients, or hypersensitivity to quinine. Do not take this medicine if there is a known sensitivity to quinidine or other antimalarials. If you suffer from muscle weakness disease (myasthenia gravis). DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE WITHOUT CONSULTING A DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING TREATMENT: If you are pregnant, intend to become pregnant or are breastfeeding. If you are suffering, or have suffered in the past, from impaired function of: the heart and/or vascular system, the eyes - optic nerve inflammation, the blood system (thrombocytopenia), if you have ever had blackwater fever, if you have hypoglycemia, asthma or ringing in the ears (tinnitus). WARNINGS: Use of this medicine may cause blurring of vision. If you are sensitive to any type of food or medicine, inform your doctor before commencing treatment with this medicine. DRUG INTERACTIONS: If you are taking another drug concomitantly or if you have just finished treatment with another medicine, inform the attending doctor, in order to prevent hazards or lack of efficacy arising from drug interactions.
