This medicine has been prescribed for you. Do not pass it on to
others. It may harm
them, even if it seems to you that their medical condition is similar
to yours.
1. WHAT IS THIS MEDICINE INTENDED FOR?
Mixtard30 Penfill is used to treat diabetes.
THERAPEUTIC GROUP: diabetes medicines, medium- or long-acting insulins
and analogs for injection
with fast-acting insulins. Human insulin.
Mixtard 30 Penfill is human insulin composed of a mix of both a
fast-acting and a long-acting
insulin. It is used to reduce the high blood sugar level in patients
with diabetes.
Diabetes is a disease where your body does not produce enough insulin
to control the level of your
blood sugar. Treatment with Mixtard 30 Penfill helps to prevent
complications from your diabetes.
Mixtard 30 Penfill will start to lower your blood sugar about 30
minutes after you inject it, and the
effect will last for approximately 24 hours.
2. BEFORE USING THIS MEDICINE
DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE:

if you are sensitive (allergic) to human insulin or any of the other
ingredients in this medicine
(see section 6, ‘Additional information’)

if you suspect hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is starting, see section
4 under ‘Summary of
serious and very common side effects’

in insulin infusion pumps

if the cartridge or the device containing the cartridge is dropped,
damaged or crushed

if the cartridge has not been stored correctly or if it has frozen -
see section 5

