Date of revision WHAT DYMENATE SYRUP 12.5MG/5ML IS USED FOR Dymenate Syrup 12.5mg/5ml is used as an anti vomiting in the prevention and treatment of motion sickness; for the symptomatic treatment of nausea and spinning sensation due to Meniere’s disease and other inner ear disturbances. HOW DYMENATE SYRUP 12.5MG/5ML WORKS It has the actions of antihistamines and has anti vomiting effect. BEFORE YOU USE DYMENATE SYRUP 12.5MG/5ML - _When you must not use it _ Do not use Dymenate Syrup 12.5mg/5ml if you have hypersensitivity to Dimenhydrinate or other ingredients listed at the end of this leaflet. _Pregnancy and lactation _ Do not take Dymenate Syrup 12.5mg/5ml if you are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or think you may be pregnant. It may mask symptoms of ear toxicity. Do not take Dymenate Syrup 12.5mg/5ml if you are breast-feeding. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine. - _Before you start to use it _ Dimenhydrinate has atropine-like actions and should be used with caution if you have history of asthma, increased pressure in the eye, overactive thyroid gland, heart and blood vessel diseases or high blood pressure. You should avoid alcoholic beverages. It should be used with caution if you have seizure, prostate enlargement and urinary retention. - _Taking other medicines _ Tell your doctor if you are taking other medicines, including any that you buy without a prescription from a pharmacy, supermarket or health food shop especially: -Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (antidepressant) -Erythromycin (antibiotic) -Ketoconazo Lugege kogu dokumenti

PHARMACOKINETICS: Dimenhydrinate is readily absorbed after oral administration. It is metabolised in the liver and excreted in the urine. INDICATION: As an anti-emetic in the prevention and treatment of motion sickness. For the symptomatic treatment of nausea and Vertigo due to Meniere’s disease and other vestibular disturbances. RECOMMENDED DOSE: DYMENATE SYRUP 12.5MG/5ML For motion sickness: Adults: 4 – 8 teaspoonfuls (20 ml – 40 ml) given at least 30 minutes before journey and may be repeated every 4 hours if necessary [not to exceed a total daily dose of 24 teaspoonfuls (120 ml)]. Children 2 - 5 years : 1 – 2 teaspoonfuls (5 ml – 10 ml), 2 - 3 times daily. Children 6 - 12 years : 2 – 4 teaspoonfuls (10 ml – 20 ml), 2 - 3 times daily. For prevention of travel sickness, the first dose should be taken 30 minutes before a journey. For Meniere’s disease : 2 – 4 teaspoonfuls (10 ml – 20 ml) 3 times daily. DYMENATE TABLET 50MG For motion sickness: Adults: 50 – 100 mg, given at least 30 minutes before journey and may be repeated every 4 hours if necessary (not to exceed a total daily dose of 300 mg). Children 2 - 5 years : 25 mg, 2 - 3 times daily. Children 6 - 12 years : 25 – 50 mg, 2 - 3 times daily. For prevention of travel sickness, the first dose should be taken 30 minutes before a journey. For Meniere’s disease : 25 – 50 mg 3 times daily. CONTRAINDICATION: It is contraindicated in cases of hypersensitivity to Dimenhydrinate.
