Date of Revision WHAT XYCIDE C IS USED FOR Xycide C is use as hand sanitizer for hand hygiene when soap and water not available. HOW XYCIDE C WORKS The combination of Chlorhexidine Gluconate dan Isopropyl Alcohol provides rapid acting and antimicrobial activity against a wide range of microorganisms. BEFORE YOU USE XYCIDE C _When you must not use it _ If you are allergic to any of the ingredients. _Before you start to use it _ Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or using any other medication at the same time. Check the seal is not broken before first use. If it is, do not use the solution. _Taking other medicines _ Please consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have taken recently any other medicines. HOW TO USE XYCIDE C _How much to use _ Apply 3-5 ml (1 pump) onto hand and rub until dry. After 10 applications, it is advisable to wash hands with soap and water. _When to use it _ It is used when hands are not visibly soiled or when soap and water are not readily available. _How long to use it _ You need to use Xycide C as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. _If you forget to take it _ Reapply as you need. _If your use too much (overdose) _ If anyone accidentally swallows some of the solution, talk to a pharmacist or doctor. WHILE YOU ARE USING IT _Things you must do _ Do not use near eyes or mucous membranes, as it may cause irritation. XYCIDE C _XYCIDE C (CHLORHEXIDINE GLUCONATE 0.5% W/V AND _ _ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL 77% W/V HAND SANITIZER)_ _DESCRIPTION_ _XYCIDE C is a light pink solution, slight alcohol and lavender odour containing:_ • _Chlorhexidine Gluconate 0.5% w/v_ • _Isopropyl alcohol 77% w/v_ _PHARMACODYNAMIC_ _Bisbiguanide _ _antiseptics _ _exert _ _their _ _lethal _ _effect _ _upon _ _bacterial _ _cells _ _through _ _non-specific interaction with acidic phospholipids of the cell membranes. Since there _ _is little percutaneous absorption of isopropyl alcohol or chorhexidine gluconate, _ _pharmacodynamic studies have not been undertaken._ _PHARMACOKINETIC_ _There is little absorption of isopropyl alcohol or chlorhexidine gluconate through _ _intact skin. Chlorhexidine is known to induce hypersensitivity, _ _including generalised allergic reactions and anaphylactic shock.
