Mupider ointment is indicated for the topical treatment of the following primary and secondary skin infections due to susceptible pathogens: primary pyodermas such as impetigo, folliculitis, furunculosis, ecthyma; secondary infected dermatoses such as eczema, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, herpes, epidermolysis bullosa, icthyosis, and infected traumatic lesions such as ulcers, minor burns, cuts, abrasions, lacerations, wounds, biopsy sites, surgical incisions and insect bites. Prophylactically, Mupider ointment may be used to prevent bacterial contamination in minor burns, biopsy sites, incisions and other clean lesions. For abrasions, minor cuts and wounds the prophylatic use of Mupider may prevent the development of infection and permit wound healing.

WHAT MUPIDER IS
USED FOR
Mupider
ointment
contains
mupirocin (2% w/w) as the
active ingredient.
Mupirocin
belongs
to
a
group
of
medicines
called
antibiotics.
Antibiotics
work
by
killing
bacteria,
which
can cause infection.
Mupider ointment is used for
the
treatment
of
certain
types of skin infections such
as
school
sores
(impetigo),
infection of the hair root and
boils.
Mupider
is also used when
infection
occurs
in
skin
damaged
by
eczema,
dermatitis,
psoriasis,
herpes
(cold sores), wounds, cuts,
grazes,
insect
bites,
minor
burns etc. Mupider
ointment
is for use on your skin only.

“Ingredients”). Signs of
an allergic reaction may
include
an
itchy
skin
rash, shortness of breath
and swelling of the face
or tongue.

if you have used Mupider
ointment
before
and
became unwell.

you have had an allergic
reaction (such as a rash)
to
another
cream
or
ointment
which
contained
any
of
the
ingredients
in
Mupider
ointment.

QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION
Mupider 2% Ointment contains 20 mg mupirocin per gram in polyethylene
glycol base.

Mupider ointment is semi-transparent and water-soluble

CLINICAL PARTICULARS
4.1
THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS
Mupider ointment is indicated for the topical treatment of the
following primary and
secondary skin infections due to susceptible pathogens: primary
pyodermas such as
impetigo, folliculitis, furunculosis, ecthyma; secondary infected
dermatoses such as
eczema, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, herpes, epidermolysis bullosa,

abrasions, lacerations,
wounds, biopsy sites, surgical incisions and insect bites.
Prophylactically, Mupider ointment may be used to prevent bacterial
contamination in

and wounds the prophylactic use of Mupider may prevent the development

and permit wound healing.
4.2
DOSE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
Dose
Adults (including elderly/hepatically impaired) and children
A small amount of Mupider ointment should be applied to the affected
area three times
daily for up to 10 days, depending on the response. The area treated
may be covered

with a gauze dressing if required.
Any product remaining at the end of treatment should be discarded.
Do not mix with other preparations as there is a risk of dilution,
resulting in a reduction
in the antibacterial activity and potential loss of stability of the
mupirocin in the
ointment.
Renal impairment
See section 4.4 Special warnings and precautions for use
4.3
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Mupider ointment should not be given to patients with a history of
hypersensitivity to
mupirocin or any of the constituents of the preparation.
