Treatment of acute diarrhoea in adults
and children above 2 years, in addition
to oral rehydration

HOW DIMECTAL POWDER FOR ORAL
SUSPENSION 3G WORKS
DIMECTAL retains a powerful coating
property on the gastrointestinal mucosa
due to its leaflet structure and high
plastic viscosity. DIMECTAL increases
the resistance of the mucosal gel in
response to aggressive agents and by
interacting with glycoproteins of mucus.
By its action on the gastrointestinal
mucous barrier and its high-binding
capacity, DIMECTAL protects the
gastrointestinal mucosa. DIMECTAL is
radiolucent, does not colour the stools
and, at usual doses, does not modify the
physiological intestinal transit time
DIMECTAL is an anti-diarrhoeal that
absorbs and flushes out toxins, bacteria,
viruses and parasites from the intestinal
wall as well as excess water in the gut to
reduce loose and watery stools. This
product also repairs, regenerates, and
heals the intestinal mucus lining which
has been damaged by diarrhoea. By
creating a barrier on the intestinal lining,
it protects the intestines against toxins,
bacteria, viruses and parasites, and
reduces gut inflammation. Hence, the
peristaltic movement of the
gastrointestinal (GI) tract (including the
bowels) is normalised - restoring and

PHARMACODYNAMIC

PHARMACOKINETIC
DIMECTAL is neither absorbed nor metabolized. It is eliminated through
the faeces.
INDICATION
•Treatment of acute diarrhoea in adults and children above 2 years,
in addition to oral rehydration
•Symptomatic treatment of chronic functional diarrhoea in adults.
•Symptomatic treatment of pain associated with functional bowel
diseases in adults.
RECOMMENDED DOSAGE
TREATMENT OF ACUTE DIARRHOEA
Children:
In children from 2 years old:
4 sachets a day for 3 days, then 2 sachets per day. (Up to maximum 7
days)
Adults: Average of 3 sachets per day.
