Anti-infective agent for the therapy of diseases caused by bacteria.
READ PACKAGE INSERT BEFORE USE
May be harmful if swallowed. Causes skin irritation. May cause damage
to organs through prolonged or repeated
exposure. Corrosive to eyes and may cause serious eye damage.
HANDLING PRECAUTIONS:
AVOID ACCIDENTAL SELF INJECTION.
Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Wear eye protection and protective
gloves. Wash hands thoroughly after
handling. Avoid ingestion and inhalation of vapour.
FIRST AID:
For advice, contact the National Poisons Centre: 0800 POISON (0800 764
766) or a doctor. Refer to the product
leaflet for further information.
INDICATIONS FOR USE:
1. Bacterial infections of bones in pigs and cattle. 2. Mastitis in
cows where the causative organisms have been
established to be either _E. coli_ or _Pseudomonas _strains sensitive
to enrofloxacin. Appropriate intramammary
treatment with another antibiotic can be used in combination with
systemic Baytril treatment. 3. Infection of the
male reproductive tract (prostatitis, vesiculitis, orchitis) in the
bull. 4. Certain infections of cattle and pigs in
locations where poor tissue penetration by other antimicrobial drugs
can be expected and where the condition is
caused by a susceptible organism which is not expected to respond
readily to other antibiotics.
Indiscriminate use of antibiotics may lead to the development of
resistance. Baytril should not be used for routine
preventive purposes and should be used in individual animals in line
with the above recommendations. Treatment
of groups of food producing animals is only recommended when culture
