BAM Sep-01-17 VIRGINIAMYCIN 44 DRUG PREMIX FOR VETERINARY USE ONLY DIN 02215691 ANTIBIOTIC ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Virginiamycin………………………………………….44 g/kg INDICATIONS: _Swine _ As an aid in the treatment and control of swine dysentery. _Broiler Chickens_ As an aid in the prevention of Necrotic Enteritis caused by _Clostridium perfringens_ susceptible to virginiamycin. DIRECTIONS FOR USE: _To reduce the development of antimicrobial resistance and maintain effectiveness, use this _ _antibiotic prudently and for the shortest duration required to achieve the desired clinical _ _outcome. _ VIRGINIAMYCIN 44 premix must be thoroughly mixed in the feed to assure even distribution. When the required amount is less than 5 kg per tonne (1000 kg) of complete feed, dilute it with one of the feed ingredients (enough to make a quantity equal to 10 kg) before final mixing. DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: _SWINE_ INDICATION REQUIRED LEVEL OF VIRGINIAMYCIN ACTIVITY PER 1000 KG OF COMPLETE FEED AMOUNT OF VIRGINIAMYCIN 44 PER 1000 KG OF COMPLETE FEED APPROXIMATE AMOUNT OF VIRGINIAMYCIN PROVIDED PER KG OF BODY WEIGHT PER ANIMAL PER DAY AS AN AID IN THE TREATMENT AND CONTROL OF SWINE DYSENTERY 110 g for 2 weeks followed by: 2.50 kg 5.00 mg 55 g for 4 weeks 1.25 kg 2.50 mg After cessation of medication at 55 g/1000 kg, if dysentery re-occurs, re-treat with the above regimen.
