SUMMARY OF PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS 1. NAME OF THE VETERINARY MEDICINAL PRODUCT Uniprim 150 Powder 150 g/kg Premix for Medicated Feed 2. QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION Each kilogram contains: _ACTIVE INGREDIENTS_ Sulphadiazine 125 g (12.5% w/w) Trimethoprim 25 g (2.5% w/w) _Other ingredients_ Limestone powder 450 g (45% w/w) Soyabean hulls 400 g (40% w/w) (or Wheatfeed) For the full list of all other excipients see section 6.1 3. PHARMACEUTICAL FORM Premix for medicated feed. Light grey powder for incorporation into feed. 4. CLINICAL PARTICULARS 4.1 TARGET SPECIES Pigs and chickens. 4.2 INDICATIONS FOR USE, SPECIFYING THE TARGET SPECIES PIGS: For use in the treatment of diseases caused by bacteria sensitive to the combination sulphadiazine:trimethoprim Reduces mortality from streptococcal meningitis caused by _Streptococcus suis _Type II. For the treatment of atrophic rhinitis where associated with _Bordetella bronchiseptica_. For the treatment of mastitis, metritis and agalactia (MMA) syndrome of bacterial origin in sows. NON-LAYING CHICKENS: For use in the treatment of diseases caused by bacteria sensitive to combination sulphadiazine:trimethoprim. Bacteria which may be sensitive include _E.coli_, _Salmonella_ spp. and _Pasteurella multocida_. 4.3 CONTRAINDICATIONS None. 4.4 SPECIAL WARNINGS FOR EACH TARGET SPECIES See section 4.5 (Special precautions for use/Special precautions for use in animals). 4.5 SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR USE SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR USE IN ANIMALS To avoid the possibility of crystalluria, adequate water intake is essential. Particular care is needed with animals suffering from renal damage. SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY THE PERSON ADMINISTERING THE VETERINARY MEDICINAL PRODUCT TO ANIMALS Persons handling this product should avoid inhalation of any dust and contact with skin. Wear either a disposable half-mask respirator conforming to European Standard EN149 or a non-disposable respirator to European Standard EN140 with a filter to EN143, when mixing or handling this product.
