DISINFECTION METHOD FOR INTRAMAMMARY PRODUCTS
•
It is important that infection of the udder does not occur when
administering any dry
cow products.
•
Accidental introduction of bacteria into the quarter during insertion
of the
intramammary syringe can result in serious mastitis.
•
The following instructions must be strictly followed when
administering U-Seal.

1. CLEAN AND DRY:
Ensure animals are appropriately
restrained in hygienic conditions. Keep
syringes clean and DO NOT immerse in
water. Thoroughly clean hands and/or
gloves prior to administration. The teats
should be clean and dry prior to
disinfection. If the teats are not clean,
wash and dry prior to disinfection.

3. INSERTION:
Ensure the teat is dry before insertion.
Take care to avoid contamination of the
syringe nozzle. Carefully insert the nozzle
with minimum penetration (up to 3 mm)
into the teat canal. Infuse the contents
while gently pinching the top of the teat.
Do not massage the teat after infusion.

2. DISINFECTION TECHNIQUE:
Disinfect and treat one teat at a time.
Clean teat thoroughly with a teat wipe (or
cotton wool ball moistened in 70%
methylated spirits (30% clean water)). Use
at least one wipe per teat and scrub until
