NAME OF THE VETERINARY MEDICINAL PRODUCT Torbugesic 10 mg/ml Solution for injection for horses 2. QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION ONE ML CONTAINS: ACTIVE SUBSTANCE: Butorphanol (as tartrate) 10 mg EXCIPIENTS: Benzethonium chloride 0.1 mg For a full list of excipients, see section 6.1. 3. PHARMACEUTICAL FORM Solution for injection. 4. CLINICAL PARTICULARS 4.1 TARGET SPECIES Adult horses and yearlings. 4.2 INDICATIONS FOR USE, SPECIFYING THE TARGET SPECIES The veterinary medicinal product is indicated for the relief of abdominal pain associated with digestive colic in adult horses and yearlings. 4.3 CONTRAINDICATIONS Do not use in horses with impaired liver or kidney function. Do not use in foals younger than 1 month. 4.4 SPECIAL WARNINGS FOR EACH TARGET SPECIES As butorphanol has the potential to decrease intestinal motility in horses, the product should only be used in horses with colic that are not responsive to analgesics. The use of xylazine should be avoided in horses with caecal malfunction. 4.5 SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR USE SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR USE IN ANIMALS The veterinary medicinal product (as butorphanol tartrate), a potent analgesic, must be used with precaution with other sedatives or analgesics as additive effects may occur. 4 The response to treatment should be Read the complete document
