WARNING Valproate can cause birth defects and problems with early development of the child if it is taken during pregnancy. WHAT SODIUM VALPROATE IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR The name of your medicine is Sodium Valproate Zentiva 200mg or 500mg Gastro-resistant Tablets (called sodium valproate throughout this leaflet). This belongs to a group of medicines called anti- convulsants or anti-epileptic agents. It works by controlling the activity of the brain which causes fits or seizures.
