SmartFresh™ InBox – Label for New Zealand 31 March 2022 Page 1 of 4 KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN SMARTFRESH INBOX ACTIVE INGREDIENT: contains 0.14 g/kg 1-methylcyclopropene in the form of a vapour releasing powder. Post-harvest treatment of fruits for improved quality after shipping, storage or handling GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS SmartFresh™ InBox is a powder packaged as a sachet. The sachet allows the release of 1-MCP vapour, which extends the shelf-life of many fruits. 1-MCP is a unique postharvest tool for counteracting many of the undesirable effects of ethylene. Fruits are treated with this gas in shipping boxes. SmartFresh InBox can extend the shelf-life of many fruits. It works by inhibiting the negative effects of ethylene and thus prevents or reduces premature senescence of fruits. SmartFresh InBox is specifically designed to be used by all levels of the fruit and industry, including growers, shippers, wholesalers, mail-order houses and retailers. SmartFresh InBox is very easy to use with almost no labour costs. To realise maximum benefits, treat fruits whether or not they have been previously treated with another anti-ethylene product. Shipments already treated with SmartFresh InBox do not have to be retreated; however, retreating is not harmful and can even be beneficial. FRUIT STORAGE CONDITIONS The use of SmartFresh InBox is compatible with and complementary to fruit stored under both controlled atmosphere and regular air fruit storage conditions. TIMING OF HARVEST AND APPLICATION SmartFresh InBox should be added to the container containing fruit immediately after harvest, during distribution or in transit. After application, fruit not for immediate sale should be stored, according to good standard commercial practices. It must be emphasized that maintaining the cold chain (keeping the fruit cool at all times) and strict adherence to phytosanitary practices remain essential in maintaining safe and high quality fruit. NOTE – kiwifruit treated from stressed vines may have issues with hard core. Read the complete document
