Therapeutic area:

46206 - Skin moisturizing/barrier dressing

Therapeutic indications:

A formulated lipophilic substance that is placed onto the skin to create a temporary, semi-occlusive protective barrier that reduces trans-epidermal moisture loss and voltage dependant extracellular processes, re-supplies essential structural lipids depleted through injury and physically inhibits oxidants generated in conjunction with skin repair processes. Initially used under medical supervision (and not sooner than 3 days after the burn), it is used to suppress and alleviate itch (Pruritus) associated with recovery from burns. It is not intended or suitable for use where the dermis is breached, and should only be applied to viable, growing, substantially normal (ie dry) epidermal tissue. The substance is single use, and supplied as non-sterile in a multiuse container.
