WHAT RIMACTAZID IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR
Rimactazid belongs to a group of medicines called antituberculosis
agents. It is a fixed combination of
two very effective antituberculosis agents which stop the growth of
mycobacteria. These mycobacteria
cause tuberculosis.
Rimactazid is used for the continuation phase treatment of
tuberculosis.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU TAKE RIMACTAZID
DO NOT TAKE RIMACTAZID:
•
if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to rifamycins, isoniazid, or to
any of the ingredients of this
medicine (listed in section 6)
•
if you have acute liver problems or previously have had a liver
problem which was caused by
drugs
•
if you are known to have a condition called porphyria
•
if you have severe kidney problems
•
if you are currently taking any of the following medications:
- voriconazole
- protease inhibitors except ritonavir when prescribed to you at full
dose or 600 mg twice
daily.
Do not take Rimactazid if any of the above apply to you.
If you are not sure about anything, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

TERAPEUTISKA INDIKATIONER
För kontinuerlig behandling av tuberkulos enligt WHOs riktlinjer.
Andra officiella rekommendationer vid användning av
antituberkulosmedel ska också tas i
beaktande.
4.2
DOSERING OCH ADMINISTRERINGSSÄTT
Dosering
Rimactazid ska ges under övervakning av läkare med
specialistkompetens inom
tuberkulosbehandling.
Den rekommenderade dosen och dosregim för Rimactazid är baserad på
WHOs
rekommendationer:

Dessa doser och dosregimer kan avvika från andra officiella
rekommendationer för
behandling av tuberkulos. Rimactazid är ett kombinationsläkemedel
som rekommenderas i
fortsättningsfasen vid behandling av tuberkulos. Under denna fas, som
varar i 4 månader, ska
Rimactazid ges kontinuerligt varje dag.
Rimactazid är en fast kombination av läkemedel och ska ges enbart
när den fasta
kombinationen av rifampicin 150 mg och isoniazid 75 mg kan medges för
patienten, i
enlighet med officiella rekommendationer och praxis.
