Restraints: Do not use PTSAN 5 solution in a situation where the solution can become

trapped in a sealed section of the equipment. Do not use on equipment which contains

alloys or copper, iron or steel.

Directions for Use:

Situation:

Pre cleaned and degreased processing, transfer and storage plant in pharmaceutical, food

and beverage production processing, reconstituted and manufacturing industries including

milk and milk products collecting and processing.

Treatment:

To sanitise and kill all aerobic bacteria, anaerobic bacteria (and their spores) and fungi and

Post rinsing - 1 ltr/2000 ltrs of water.

Critical Comments:

Apply to pre cleaned and degreased equipment. Working dilutions must be prepared within

an hour of intended use and should be used sacrificially for each sanitation procedure.

The surface to be sanitised must be cleaner of as much adherent soiling, grease, fats, oils,

protein, starch, sugar etc, prior to application of PTSAN 5. A suggested cleaning regime for

full plant contact is:

a) a hot water rinse until the rinsing are clear.

b) a hot caustic detergent rinse for 10-30 minutes.

c) a cold water rinse until the rinsing are of neutral pH.

d) the diluted PTSAN 5 rinse.

Working solutions should be used at ambient (20 deg C) conditions but may in special

circumstances be used hot (70 deg C). There is not need to post rinse a PTSAN 5 sanitised

plant. The plant should be sealed from the top and allowed to bottom drain. However, if

post rinsing is required. It should be done with micro filtered town water sterilised to two

hours.

NOT TO BE USED FOR ANY PURPOSE, OR IN ANY MANNER CONTRARY TO THIS

LABEL. UNLESS AUTHORISED UNDER APPROPRIATE LEGISLATION.

General instructions:

The optimal dilution rate to be used should be determined in consultation with Jaegar

Australia Technical Personnel. The working solution should be of appropriate concentration

of Peracetic acid to eliminate the problem microbes expected to be encountered in the

plant. Solution contact time should vary from 10-30 minutes depending on the degree of

residual soiling and the microbes to be eliminated.

HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION

Health Effects

Acute:

SWALLOWED: Corrosive if swallowed. May burn the

mouth, gullet and stomach. If swallowed, decomposition may

occur in the stomach leading to the production of oxygen gas,

this may cause distension of stomach. Possibility of some

bleeding occurring.

EYE: Corrosive. May cause damage to the cornea, which

may affect vision if immediate first aid is not taken. Vapour

may cause irritation.

SKIN: Corrosive. May cause delayed chemical burns. In

some cases, transient whitening of the affected area may

occur.

INHALED: Irritating to respiratory tract. Possibility of

development of fluid in the lungs with severe exposure.

FIRST AID

SWALLOWED: Contact a Doctor or Poisons Information

Centre. Do NOT induce vomiting. Give a glass of water.

Repeat if vomiting occurs. If the patient is not fully conscious

do not give anything by mouth.

EYE: In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with

plenty of water and contact a doctor or Poisons Information

Centre. Get urgent medical attention.

SKIN: Remove contaminated clothing and wash skin

thoroughly with water.

INHALED: Remove from contaminated area.

First Aid Facilities:

Eye wash. Fresh water.

Advice to Doctor:

Acidic product. Ulceration could be

delayed so for eye contact or ingestion, patient should be re-

checked.

PRECAUTIONS FOR USE

EXPOSURE: Exposure standards TWA represent the time

weighted average air borne concentration of a substance

over an eight hour day, for a five day working week, over an

entire working life which, according to current knowledge

should neither impair the health of ,nor cause undue

discomfort to nearly workers. They are guides only and do

not represent ‘no effect’ levels which guarantee protection to

every worker.

Worksafe Australia has established exposure standards for

the following ingredients:

Hydrogen Peroxide

1.4mg/m3

Acetic Acid

25mg/m3

ENGINEERING CONTROLS: Ensure ventilation is adequate

to maintain air concentrations below exposure standards and

as low as is reasonably practicable. While good natural

ventilation may be adequate in most cases, local exhaust

ventilation may be required.

PERSONAL PROTECTION: Avoid contact with the skin and

eyes. Avoid breathing its mist. Wear face shield ,chemical

goggles or safety glasses should be worn at all times while

handling. Eye protection should comply with AS 1337 and be

selected and used in accordance with AS 1336 overalls or

apron and protective footwear. Wear natural rubber,

neoprene, nitrile or PVC gloves when using undiluted

product. If risk of inhalation of spray mists exists, wear

respiratory mask meeting the requirements of AS 1715 and

AS 1716.

FLAMMABILITY: Not flammable or combustible

SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION

Storage and Transport: Dangerous Goods Class 5.1.

Subsidiary Risk 8 Packaging Group II – must be stored and

transported in accordance with State or Territory dangerous

goods regulations.

Spills and Disposal: Absorb on vermiculite or similar

absorbing material and collect in drums. Small spills may be

flushed away with water.

Fire/Explosion Hazard: Use water fog, foam or dry agent

danger of violent reaction or explosion. Wear full body

protective clothing with breathing apparatus and protective

gloves. Dilute. Wash to drain with large quantities of water.

Consider evacuation.

OTHER INFORMATION:

The Time Weighted Average (TWA) quoted above is the

Work Safe Adopted National Exposure Standard for the

average airborne concentration when calculated over a

normal eight-hour working day, for a five-day working week.

This MSDS is valid for five years from date of issue but

readers should contact Jaeger Australia to ensure that this is

the latest issue. As per the Work safe Guidance Note

NOHSC 3017, each user should review the information in the

specific context of the intended application.
