HEALTH EFFECTS:

Swallowed:

Harmful liable to cause nausea and vomiting. May cause tissue damage to mouth and gullet. Central

nervous system depressant effects, (possibly preceded by excitement and convulsions) with paralysis of

respiratory muscles leading to asphyxia.

Eye:

Severe irritant. May cause permanent injury and impairment of vision.

Skin:

Primary irritant. May be severe with sensitive individuals or after repeated contact. Prolonged or

repeated exposure may lead to dermatitis. No specific data available on skin adsorption. Liable to be

corrosive to subcutaneous tissue, i.e. open wounds.

Inhalation:

Not normally considered an inhalation hazard. Aspiration (breathing in) of liquid, spray mist liable to

cause severe irritation and damage to respiratory tract.

Swallowed:

For advice, contact a Poisons Information Centre (Phone Australia 131126; New Zealand 03 4747000)

or a doctor at once. If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting.

Eye:

If in eyes, hold eyelids apart and flush the eye continuously with running water. Continue flushing until

advised to stop by the Poisons Information Centre, or a doctor, or for at least 15 minutes.

Skin:

If skin or hair contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and flush skin and hair with running water.

Inhalation:

If aspiration (breathing in of liquid) has occurred or is suspected, transport to hospital immediately. If

breathing stops, give artificial respiration.

Advice to Doctor.

Treat symptomatically and as for exposure to benzalkonium chloride and copper sulphate.

STORAGE

TRANSPORT

Store as provided for in the appropriate state regulations relating to storage and handling of

dangerous goods. Keep containers tightly sealed when not in use. Store in a well-ventilated place

and out of direct sunlight. Check area regularly for spills. The product is corrosive to copper, brass,

zinc and zinc alloys, mild steel if stored in these materials over a period.

INCOMPATIBILITY

Not to be loaded with dangerous when wet substances (Class 4.3), oxidising agents (Class 5),

cyanides (Class 6), strong acids (Class 8), anionic detergents or foodstuffs.

SPILLS

Evacuate area of all unprotected personnel. Wear protective gear, including impervious footwear,

goggles and gloves. Contain spill with earth or sand. Prevent liquid from entering drains, sewers,

and waterways. Absorb spill with earth/sand and seal in metal or polyethylene containers for

disposal. Large spills notify emergency services.
