ACTIVE INGREDIENT: oxytetracycline hydrochloride, BP 55 mg/g
INDICATIONS: As an aid in the prevention and treatment of American
Foul Brood and
European Foul Brood in honey bees.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE: _ To reduce the development of antimicrobial
resistance and maintain _
_effectiveness, use this antibiotic prudently. _
AS A DUSTING POWDER: Thoroughly mix 454 g OXYTET-25 with 3.5 kg of
powdered sugar.
Apply 32 g of medicated mix per colony on the outer parts or ends of
the frames 3 times at 4 to
5 day intervals in the fall and in the spring at least 4 weeks before
the main honey flow.
IN SUGAR SYRUP: Dissolve 454 g OXYTET-25 in 300 kg of 1:1 sugar syrup
(one part
sugar:one part water). Bulk feed 2.5 kg of this medicated syrup per
colony 3 times at 3 to 4 day
intervals in the fall and in the spring at least 4 weeks before the
main honey flow. Medicated
syrup should be used immediately and consumed within one week.
To prevent the spreading of the disease, do not use honey from
infected colonies for the
preparation of medicated syrup.
WARNINGS: To avoid violative residues in honey, Oxytet-25 should be
fed early in the spring
or fall and consumed by the bees before the main honey flow begins.
Complete treatments at
least 4 weeks prior to main honey flow. Honey collected in supers
before the end of the 4 week
withdrawal period should not be harvested for human consumption. Honey
from brood nest
areas of colonies treated with Oxytet-25 should not be harvested for
human consumption. When
handling this product, avoid inhalation, oral exposure and direct
contact with skin or eyes. Keep
out of reach of children.
