SUMMARY OF PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS 1 NAME OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT Nicozone 10 mg Tablets 2 QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION Each Nicorandil 10 mg tablet contains 10 mg nicorandil. For a full list of excipients, see section 6.1. 3 PHARMACEUTICAL FORM Tablet. White to off-white round, flat tablet with a break line on one side. The tablet can be divided into equal halves. 4 CLINICAL PARTICULARS 4.1 THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS The prevention and long term treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris. 4.2 POSOLOGY AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION For oral use. _Adults_ The recommended starting dose is 10 mg nicorandil twice daily, preferably in the morning and in the evening. A lower starting dose of 5 mg twice daily may be employed (for a few days) in patients particularly susceptible to headache. Subsequently the dosage should be titrated upwards depending on the patient’s clinical response and tolerance. The usual therapeutic dosage is in the range of 10 to 20 mg nicorandil twice daily, although up to 30 mg twice daily may be employed, if necessary. _Elderly_ For elderly patients use of the lowest effective dose is recommended. _Paediatric Population_ Nicozone 10 mg tablets are not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 18 years due to insufficient data on safety and efficacy. 4.3 CONTRAINDICATIONS Nicozone 10 mg tablets are contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to nicorandil or to any of the excipients.
