Em casos raros, pode ter sintomas de danos nos nervos (neuro-
patia) como dor, ardor, formigueiro, dormência e/ou fraqueza,
especialmente nos pés e nas pernas ou nas mãos e nos braços.
Se isso acontecer, deixe de tomar Levo-Denk 500 e informe
o seu médico imediatamente para evitar o desenvolvimento
de um problema potencialmente irreversível.
Caso sinta uma dor súbita e intensa no abdómen, peito ou
costas, dirija-se imediatamente às urgências do hospital.
Efeitos secundários graves prolongados,
incapacitantes e potencialmente irreversíveis
Os medicamentos antibacterianos de fluoroquinolona/quino-
lona, incluindo o Levo-Denk 500, têm sido relacionados com
efeitos secundários muito raros, embora graves, sendo alguns
deles prolongados (continuados durante meses ou anos), in-
capacitantes ou potencialmente irreversíveis. Isto inclui do-
res nos tendões, nos músculos e nas articulações dos mem-
bros superiores e inferiores, dificuldade em andar, sensações
anómalas, como sensação de picadas, formigueiros, cócegas,
dormência ou ardor (parestesia), problemas sensoriais incluin-
do perturbações da visão e de audição, alteração do paladar e
do olfacto, depressão, problemas de memória, fadiga intensa
e perturbações graves do sono.
Se apresentar algum destes efeitos secundários depois de to
-
mar Levo-Denk 500, contacte o seu médico imediatamente an-
tes de continuar com o tratamento. Você e o seu médico de-
cidirão se o tratamento é para continuar, tendo também em
conta uma forma de antibiótico de outra classe.
Outros medicamentos e Levo-Denk 500
Informe o seu médico ou farmacêutico se estiver a tomar, ti-
ver tomado recentemente ou se vier a tomar outros medica-
mentos. Isto porque Levo-Denk 500 pode afectar o modo como
os outros medicamentos actuam. Além disso, outros medica-
mentos podem afectar o modo como Levo-Denk 500 actua.

QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION
Active substance: levofloxacin
Each film-coated tablet contains 500 mg levofloxacin, equivalent to
512.46 mg levofloxacin
hemihydrate.
Excipients with known effect: Contains lactose monohydrate and less
than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg)
per tablet.

PHARMACEUTICAL FORM
Film-coated tablet.
Pink, oblong, film-coated tablet with a breaking line on both sides.
The film-coated tablet can be divided into equal halves.

CLINICAL PARTICULARS
4.1
THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS
Levo-Denk 500 is indicated in adults for the treatment of the
following infections (see sections 4.4 and
5.1):
-
acute pyelonephritis and complicated urinary tract infections (see
section 4.4)
-
chronic bacterial prostatitis
-
inhalation anthrax: post-exposure prophylaxis and curative treatment
(see section 4.4)
Levo-Denk 500 may also be used to complete a course of therapy in
patients who have shown
improvement during initial treatment with intravenous levofloxacin.
For the following indications Levo-Denk 500 should be used only when
it is considered inappropriate
to use other antibacterial agents that are commonly recommended for
the treatment of these infections.

acute bacterial sinusitis
-
acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis or of chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease
-
community acquired pneumonia
-
complicated skin and soft tissue infections
-
uncomplicated cystitis (see section 4.4)
Consideration should be given to official guidance on the appropriate
use of antibacterial agents.

4.2
POSOLOGY AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
Levo-Denk 500 tablets are administered once or twice daily. The dosage
depends on the type and
severity of the infection and the susceptibility of the presumed
causative pathogen.
Levo-Denk 500 tablets may also be used to complete a course of therapy
in patients who have shown
improvement during initial treatment with intravenous levofloxacin;
given th
