Claims: Progesterone intravaginal delivery system for controlled breeding in cattle. INDICATIONS: Veterinary specialist control of cattle reproduction requiring a fast elevation of progesterone which requires maintenance >1.5 ng/ml for up to 7 days and a rapid plasma progesterone decline upon removal: 1. Synchronisation of the oestrus cycle in heifers and cows for either fixed time or heat- detected artificial insemination. 2. Treatment of post-partum anoestrous in lactating dairy cows. 3. Resynchronisation of returns to service in heifers and cows. Net Contents: 10 Cattle IVDs It is illegal to sell individual units separately. Directions for Use: Restraints: Contraindications: This product is contraindicated for use in animals with abnormal vaginas. This product is contraindicated for use in animals that are in poor condition from illness, nutritional or management stress, as they may not respond. RLP APPROVED The IVDs should not be re-used. Precautions: Side Effects: Dosage and Administration: 1. FOR SYNCHRONISATION OF OESTRUS WITH ACTIVE HEAT DETECTION PRIOR TO SUBMISSION. Insert the IVD for 7 days with an injection of prostaglandin F2α at removal. Animals normally come into oestrus 48-96 hours after the removal of the IVD. A “heat mount detector” or tail paint for detecting oestrous is recommended. 2. OESTRUS CYCLE CONTROL USING FIXED TIME ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION (FTAI) IN HEIFERS (PREVIOUSLY UNJOINED CATTLE) FTAI programs for the synchronisation of oestrus in normally cycling heifers using the IVD should be formulated in consultation with a veterinarian, taking into account the needs of individual management systems and environmental conditions.
