HEMO
Suppositories
Composition
Each suppository contains:
Bismuth Subgallate 180 mg
Benzocaine 15 mg
Zinc Oxide 120 mg
Inactive Ingredients: Olive oil, Witepsol w 35 (hard fat), Propyl paraben,
Castor oil, Soya bean oil, B.H.T, Sodium methylparaben, Purified water.
Therapeutic activity:
This medicine is intended for the relief of hemorrhoids.
When should the preparation not be used?
Do not use this medicine if you are sensitive to any of its ingredients.
Warnings: Do not use this medicine frequently, or for a long period,
without consulting a doctor or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If
you are sensitive to any type of food or medicine, especially local
anesthetics, inform your doctor before commencing treatment with this
medicine. Do not use this medicine for 3 days prior to having pancreatic
function test.
Drug Interactions: If you are taking another drug concomitantly or
if you have just finished treatment with another medicine, inform the
attending doctor, in order to prevent hazards or lack of efficacy arising
from drug interactions.
Side Effects:
In addition to the desired effect of the medicine, adverse reactions may
occur during the course of taking this medicine. Treatment with Hemo
suppositories may cause change in the colour of the faeces. Such
change should not be a cause for worry. In the event that you experience
side effects not mentioned in this leaflet, or if there is a change in your
general health, consult your doctor immediately.
Recommended dosage unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor:
Use morning and evening, and after each bowel movement.
Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
This medicine is not intended for administration to children.
Attention:
Do not swallow! This medicine is intended for external use only.
Directions for Use:
Remove the foil wrapper from the suppository. The suppository may be
moistened with a some water to aid in its insertion. Lie down on your
side and push the suppository deep into the rectum with your finger.
Wash your hands thoroughly. Note: If the suppository is too soft, it
may be chilled in a refrigerator for about 30 minutes or by placing
it under a stream of cold water before removing the foil wrapper.
If there is no improvement in your condition within few days, or your
condition gets worse, notify your doctor.
How can you contribute to the success of the treatment?
Measures recommended with the use of this medicine:
Proper digestion, prevention of constipation and/or effort on defecation,
no lifting of heavy objects.
Avoid Poisoning! This medicine, and all other medicines, must be
stored in a safe place out of the reach of children and/or infants, to avoid
poisoning. If you have taken an overdose, or if a child has accidentally
swallowed the medicine, proceed immediately to a hospital emergency
room and bring the package of the medicine with you.
Do not induce vomiting unless explicitly instructed to do so by a doctor!
Do not take medicines in the dark! Check the label and the dose each
time you take your medicine. Wear glasses if you need them.
Storage: Store below 25˚C and a dry place.
Even if kept in their original container and stored as recommended,
medicines may be kept for a limited period only. Please note the expiry
date of the medicine! In case of doubt, consult the pharmacist who
dispensed the medicine to you.
Do not store different medications in the same package.
