1. WHAT DAONIL 5 MG TABLETS ARE AND WHAT THEY ARE USED FOR
Daonil is an oral antidiabetic that belongs to a group of medicines
known as sulfonylureas
(medicines that decrease blood sugar i.e. glycemia).
Daonil is used to treat non-insulin dependent diabetes (also called
type
2 diabetes) when diet alone has not been enough to control your blood
sugar.
2. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU TAKE DAONIL 5 MG TABLETS
If your doctor has told you that you are intolerant to certain sugars,
contact him/her before taking this medicine.
_Do not take Daonil in the following situations: _
- if you are allergic to the active substance (glibenclamide) or to
any of
the other ingredients of Daonil. The list of ingredients can be found
in
Section 6.
- if you are allergic to medicines in the same group as Daonil or
related
substances
(sulfonylureas or sulfonamides).
- if you have diabetes requiring treatment with insulin.
- if you have complications from diabetes such as ketoacidosis or
consciousness disorders (precoma).
- if you have a severe liver or kidney disease.
- if you are receiving treatment with miconazole (see section
"Taking/using other medicines).
