WHAT CLINDAMYCIN MYLAN IS USED FOR Clindamycin is an antibiotic. It is used to treat infections in different parts of the body caused by bacteria. Clindamycin works by killing or stopping the growth of bacteria causing your infection. Clindamycin will not work against viral infections such as colds or flu. CLINDAMYCIN MYLAN injection is recommended for patients who are allergic to penicillin or patients for whom, in the judgment of the doctor, penicillin is inappropriate. Your doctor may have prescribed CLINDAMYCIN MYLAN injection for another reason. ASK YOUR DOCTOR IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT WHY CLINDAMYCIN HAS BEEN PRESCRIBED FOR YOU. This medicine is available only with a doctor's prescription. CLINDAMYCIN MYLAN is not addictive. AUSTRALIAN PRODUCT INFORMATION CLINDAMYCIN MYLAN _Clindamycin Phosphate solution for injection _ 1 NAME OF THE MEDICINE Clindamycin phosphate 2 QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION The active ingredient is clindamycin phosphate. Each 2 mL solution for injection contains clindamycin phosphate equivalent to 300 mg clindamycin. Each 4 mL solution for injection contains clindamycin phosphate equivalent to 600 mg clindamycin. The pH of the injection is 5.5 – 7.0. This preparation is preservative free. ANAEROBES Serious respiratory tract infections such as empyema, anaerobic pneumonitis and lung abscess; serious skin and skin structure infections; septicaemia; intra-abdominal infections such as peritonitis and intra- abdominal abscess (typically resulting from anaerobic organisms resident in the normal gastrointestinal tract) and infections of the female pelvis and genital tract such as endometritis, non-gonococcal tubo- ovarian abscess, pelvic cellulitis and post-surgical vaginal cuff infection, all when given in conjunction with an antibiotic of appropriate gram-negative aerobic spectrum. STREPTOCOCCI Serious respiratory tract infections; serious skin and skin structure infections; septicaemia.
