2. Active ingredient
Each oral grilled-meat flavored tablet contains:
Canidryl 20 mg tablets for dogs Veterinary contains 20 mg carprofen
Canidryl 100 mg tablets for dogs Veterinary contains 100 mg carprofen
Inactive ingredients and allergens: See Section 13 ‘Additional
Information’.
3. What is this medicine intended for
This medicine is intended for use in dogs, to reduce inflammation and
pain caused by
musculoskeletal disorders and degenerative joint disease.
As a follow up to parenteral analgesia in the management of
post-operative pain.
Therapeutic group: non-steroid anti-inflammatory (NSAIDs).
4. Contraindications
Do not administer this medicine in cases of hypersensitivity to the
active ingredient or to any
of the inactive ingredients.
Do not give this medicine to cats.
Mistakenly using the medicine in cats can bring them to a
life threating situation.
Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Never give this medicine to dogs with heart, liver, or kidney diseases
where there is a possibility
of bleeding or ulcers in the digestive tract, or if there is evidence
of impaired blood composition
(blood dyscrasia).
Do not give this medicine to puppies younger than 4 months.
Do not use in pregnant or lactating bitches.
5. Side effects
Undesirable effects associated with NSAIDs have been reported such as
vomiting, soft
stool/diarrhea, occult blood in the stool, loss of appetite, and
exhaustion. These side effects
usually occur within the first week of treatment and, in most cases,
disappear following
termination of the treatment. However, in very rare cases these
effects may be serious or fatal.
If side effects occur, stop using the drug and consult a veterinarian.
As with other NSAIDs, there is a risk of rare kidney or idiosyncratic
liver side effects.
