glucose and the amino acid glutamine. It is a
key part of the structure of cartilage, which is
essential for proper joint function.

structural units (aggrecans) of cartilage.

osteoarthritis. Supplementary glucosamine can
be an important source of this component of
cartilage as we age. Glucosamine has been
shown to regenerate cartilage and to exhibit
some anti-inflammatory effects.
Chondroitin sulfate is also found in cartilage,
and helps joints resist compressive loads and
cope with weight-bearing activities such as
running and walking.
Glucosamine taken orally is 90% absorbed in
