BAMYXIN
EYE OINTMENT
COMPOSITION:
Each gram contains:
Polymyxin B Sulfate
5000 IU
Bacitracin
400 IU
Neomycin Sulfate
5 mg
INACTIVE INGREDIENTS:
Anhydrous lanolin, Mineral oil, Petrolatum.
THERAPEUTIC GROUP:
The three active components are antibiotics.
THERAPEUTIC ACTIVITY:
For the treatment of superficial external ocular
infections
caused
by
organisms
sensitive
to
one
or
more
of
the
antibiotics contained therein.
WHEN SHOULD THE PREPARATION NOT BE USED?
Do not use this medicine if you are sensitive to any of the active
components or to other aminoglycosides, or any other antibiotic
substance.
Do not use this medicine in cases of fungal infection, herpes simplex
or another ocular viral infection.
DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE WITHOUT CONSULTING A DOCTOR BEFORE
STARTING TREATMENT:
if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are suffering, or have
suffered
in the past, from impaired function of the kidney/urinary tract. In
cases
of concurrent or sequential use of other nephrotoxic or neurotoxic
drugs.
Soon after the use of anesthesia and/or muscle relaxants.
WARNINGS:
may cause brief blurring of vision on instillation. If your sight
is affected in any way you should not drive or operate machinery.
DRUG INTERACTIONS:
If you are taking another drug concomitantly or if you
have just finished treatment with another medicine, inform the
attending
doctor, in order to prevent hazards or lack of efficacy arising from
drug
interactions. This is especially important for medicines belonging to
the following groups: Live attenuated rotavirus vaccine, any other eye
preparation, anesthesia and/or muscle relaxants, quinolone antibiotics
(Ciprofloxacin, Ofloxacin).
