AVICOL (FLORFENICOL 15% W/V ORAL SOLUTION) CONTROLLED MEDICINE Composition: Each 1L contains: Florfenicol……150 gm Product description: Solution for use in Drinking Water. Clear, colourless to yellow solution. Target species: Poultry ( Chicken ) and Swine ( pig ) Pharmacokinetics Swine: After administration to pigs by gavage at 15 mg/kg under experimental conditions, Florfenicol was detectable in the serum of all animals through 12 hours after gavage. After gavage of florfenicol on the fifth day, the maximum serum florfenicol concentrations were between 2.78 µg/ml and 7.34 µg/ml and the median terminal half life was 2.0 hours. The extent of bioavailability ranged from 24% to 97%. Poultry: Serum concentrations versus time in chickens after the administration of florfenicol in drinking water at an expected concentration of 100 ppm for 18 hours per day over 3 days. Pharmacodynamics Swine: Florfenicol is a synthetic broad spectrum antibiotic active against many gram-negative and gram- positive bacteria isolated from domestic animals.
