WHAT ALMECON IS USED FOR
For the relief of excess acid in the stomach,
flatulence and indigestion.
HOW ALMECON_ _WORKS
Aluminium and magnesium hydroxide, an
antacid, neutralize or buffer existing
quantities of stomach acid, thus providing
relief of symptoms of excess acid.
Simethicone, an antiflatulent, relieves by
belching or passing flatus.
BEFORE YOU USE ALMECON
_- When you must not use it _
_ Pregnancy and lactation _
It is safe for use in pregnancy as long as
long term high doses are avoided.
However, safety for use in lactation has
not been established.
Do not take
Almecon if you are breast-feeding. Ask
Your doctor or pharmacist for advice
before taking any medicine.
_- Before you start to use it _
Caution if you have kidney impairment,
inflammation of the appendix, stomach,
intestinal or rectal bleeding, long term
diarrhea and intestinal obstruction. The
maximum dosage recommended should
not be more than 2 weeks, unless
otherwise directed by doctor.
_- Taking other medicines _
Take Almecon at least 1 to 2 hours after
medicines like loxapine (antipsycotic),
anticoagulants (for blood clots),
antidyskinetics (for muscle spasm),
antimuscarinics (for urinary incontinence),
ketoconazole (antifungal), tetracycline
(antibiotic) and sucralfate (for stomach
ulcer). Be cautious when on drug therapy
of benzodiazepines (tranquilizer),
diflunisal (for pain), digitalis glycosides
(for heart), phenothiazines (for migraine)
and phosphates (mineral supplement).
HOW TO USE ALMECON
_- How much to use _
Adults: Take by mouth, 5 – 10ml. The
maximum daily dose should not exceed
120ml. C
