Date of Revision WHAT ACTAVIS ORS IS USED FOR When you or your child has diarrhoea or is vomiting, it is important to prevent dehydration. Oral rehydration salt (ORS) solutions are used to prevent or correct dehydration in adults and children. ORS is also used to prevent dehydration during physical exertion. HOW ACTAVIS ORS WORK Actavis ORS contain the right mix of salt, sugar, potassium, and other minerals to help replace lost fluids. Dextrose provides a rapidly available source of energy. It also accelerates the absorption of salts and water. BEFORE YOU USE ACTAVIS ORS _-When you must not take it _ Do not take Actavis ORS if you: • are allergic (hypersensitive) to any of the ingredients in the sachet • have kidney failure • have high levels of potassium in the blood _-Before you start to take it _ You should check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking Actavis ORS if you: • are pregnant or breastfeeding • have impaired kidney function • have heart failure • have high blood pressure If you are not sure if any of the above apply to you, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Actavis ORS. _-Taking other medicines _ Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
