COMPOSITION
Each tablet_ _contains:
_ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: _acetylsalicylic acid – 500 mg;
_INACTIVE INGREDIENTS:_ microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, maize
starch, sodium starch glycolate,
magnesium stearate.
PHARMACOLOGICAL GROUP AND ATC CODE
Analgesic-antipyretic; N02BA01.
PHARMACOLOGY
Acetylsalicylic acid has antipyretic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic
effect due to inhibition of
prostaglandin synthesis. The mechanism of action is irreversible
inhibition of the cyclooxygenase
enzyme that regulates the synthesis of prostaglandins E2, I2, and
thromboxane A2. One of the main
mechanisms of headache while migraine attacks is aseptic neurogenic
inflammation of blood vessels
and dura mater. Acetylsalicylic acid, inhibits the formation of
prostaglandins, which are mediators of
inflammation, reduces irritation of pain receptors of the trigeminal
nerve system. On the other hand,
acetylsalicylic acid inhibits synthesis with endothelial vascular
nitric oxide, which is involved in the
initiation and maintenance of an attack of migraine headache.
The maximum effect of the drug develops within 10-20 minutes.
USES
Acetylsalicylic acid can be used for the treatments of:
- Pain of mild to moderate intensity of different genesis (including
headache, toothache, dysmenorrhea,
myalgia);
- Fever with colds and infectious and inflammatory diseases. DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Inside 500 mg usually every 4-6 hours depending on the severity of the
clinical symptoms. The
maximum daily dose is 4 g.
The recommended dosage for acute osteoarthritis usually ranges from 4
to 8 grams per day in divided
form.
In chronic diseases daily dosage is 5,4g in a divided form.
ADVERSE EFFECTS
In rare cases, nausea, epigastric pain, allergic skin reactions,
changes in the peripheral blood (very
