SUMMARY OF PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS SODIUM CHLORIDE + DEXTROSE (0.9 + 5) % SOLUTION FOR INFUSION 1. P RODUCT N AME Sodium Chloride + Dextrose (0.9 + 5) % 2. COMPOSITION (PER ML) ACTIVE INGREDIENTS QUANTITIES Sodium chloride 9.0 mg Dextrose monohydrate 55.0 mg equivalent to dextrose anhydrous 50.0 mg EXCIPIENTS QUANTITIES Water for Injections Q.S.to 1 ml 3. P HARMACOTECHNICAL F ORM Solution for Infusion 4. C LINICAL I NFORMATION 4.1 INDICATIONS - Need for calories coverage: 840 kJ/lit (200 kcal/lit) - Dehydration with hypernatrinaemia or hyperosmosis - As a vehicle for administration of therapeutic treatment 4.2 DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION This medicine is administered by intravenous infusion, according to the patient’s condition, weight, nutrition and the possible supplementary treatments received by the patient. 1 The recommended dose for the treatment of isoton extracellular water loss, sodium and carbohydrate loss is: for adults: 500 ml to 3 lt every 24 hours for infants and children: - body weight 0-10kg: 100ml/kg/24h - body weight 10-20kg: 1000ml + 50ml/kg over 10kg/24h - body weight > 20kg: 1500ml + 20ml/kg over 20kg/24h The infusion rate depends on the patient’s clinical condition. The recommended dose when Sodium Chloride + Dextrose (0,9 + 5)% is used as carrier or solvent, varies from 50 to 250ml per dose of the administered pharmaceutical product. When Sodium Chloride + Dextrose (0,9 + 5)% is used as solvent for injectable forms of other medicines, the dosage and the infusion rate are primarily indicated by the nature and the dosage schedule of the prescribed medicine. 4.3 CONTRA-INDICATIONS - Water retention - Diabetic coma - Hyperosmotic coma 4.4 SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS FOR USE - Restriction to a low infusion rate because undesirable osmotic diuresis may appear. - In cases that high doses are administered, the clinical and biological condition of the patient and the water-electrolyte equilibrium should be closely monitored. - Special caution is required when administered to patients with ren Διαβάστε το πλήρες έγγραφο
