Contents of the pack and other information 1. WHAT SINERGINA IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR Sinergina contains the active substance phenytoin. Phenytoin belongs to the group of medicinal products called antiepileptics, which are used to treat epilepsy. Sinergina is indicated in the treatment of the following types of epilepsy: generalised tonic-clonic episodes (grand mal seizures) and complex partial seizures, and in the treatment and prevention of seizures in neurosurgery. 2. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU TAKE SINERGINA DO NOT TAKE SINERGINA • if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to phenytoin or to any of the other components of this drug (included in section 6). • if you are allergic to hydantoin-type medicinal products. • if you are taking a medicinal product called delavirdine to treat HIV infection. WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Sinergina. • if you suffer from any liver disease or other serious illness or are elderly. If during treatment you notice symptoms that may indicate hepatitis, such as jaundice (yellow colouring of the skin and of the whites of the eyes), consult your doctor immediately, • if you have porphyria (a hereditary illness that affects haemoglobin biosynthesis), • if you are diabetic, as phenytoin can raise glucose levels, • if you consume large amounts of alcohol or regularly drink small quantities, • if you are receiving treatment with cranial radiotherapy or are reducing your treatment with c Διαβάστε το πλήρες έγγραφο
