This medicine is for minor conditions
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS FOR
This medicine contains laxatives, which can be used for the relief of
occasional constipation.
BEFORE YOU TAKE THIS MEDICINE
This medicine can be taken by adults and children aged 1 year and
over.
However, some people should not take this medicine or should seek the
advice of their
pharmacist or doctor first.

IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC to any of the ingredients

IF YOU HAVE STOMACH PAIN

IF YOU ARE FEELING SICK OR BEING SICK

IF YOU HAVE A BLOCKAGE IN YOUR INTESTINE

IF YOU HAVE AN INTOLERANCE TO SOME SUGARS, unless your doctor tells

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
This medicine contains 2.8 g of total sugars per 5 ml spoonful. This
should be taken into
account if you have diabetes.
 HOW TO TAKE THIS MEDICINE
Check the cap seal is not broken before first use. If it is, do not
take the medicine.
Take the amount shown in the table opposite.

1. Name of the medicinal product
Boots Syrup of Figs Laxative or Boots Constipation Relief 1 Year Plus
2. Qualitative and quantitative composition
Each 5ml of oral solution contains:
0.4 ml of liquid extract from Alexandrian Senna fruit (_Cassia senna
_L. (_C. acutifolia _Delile) fruit).
Extraction Solvent: 45% ethanol
0.5 ml of liquid extract from Fig fruit (_Ficus_ _carica_ L.).
Extraction solvent: Water
Also contains: Each 5ml of oral solution also contains: 2.51 g of
sucrose and 0.15 g of dextrose (glucose)

4. Clinical particulars
4.1 Therapeutic indications
For short term relief of occasional constipation.
4.2 Posology and method of administration
For oral use only.
The correct individual dose is the smallest required to produce a
comfortable soft-formed motion.
Adults, the elderly and children over 12 years: 10 ml (two 5 ml
teaspoonfuls)
Children 5 to 12 years: 5 ml (one 5 ml teaspoonful)
Children 1 to 5 years: 2.5 ml (half a 5 ml teaspoonful)
The dose should be taken at bedtime and should be decreased as the
bowel habit becomes regular.
Normally it is sufficient to take this product up to two to three time
a week.
DURATION OF USE
Use for more than 1 week requires medical supervision.
If there is no bowel movement after three days a doctor should be
consulted.
If symptoms persist during the use of the medicinal product, a doctor
or a qualified healthcare practitioner
should be consulted.
4.3 Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
Cases of intestinal obstructions and stenosis, atony, appendicitis,
inflammatory colon diseases (e.g.
Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis) abdominal pain of unknown origin,
severe dehydration state with water
and electrolyte depletion.
