LOZENGES IS USED FOR
Strepsils
Warm
Ginger
Lozenges
contains
two
antiseptic
ingredients
for use in throat medications. These
are used for symptomatic relief of
mouth and throat infections. These
ingredients are both mild antiseptic
which
kill
the
bacteria
associated
with mouth and throat infections. The
action of sucking the lozenge allows
the active ingredients to work in the
area of the discomfort and also helps
lubricate and soothe the painful area.
This helps relieve the soreness and
discomfort
of
mouth
and
throat
infections.
HOW STREPSILS WARM GINGER WORKS
This
medicine
helps
relieve
the
discomfort and pain of sore throats. It
contains
the
antiseptics
amylmetacresol
and
dichlorobenzyl
alcohol
which
kill
the
germs
that
cause sore throat.
This medicine is available in the form
of lozenges which slowly dissolve in
the mouth when sucked.

Do not take this product if you:

Are
allergic
(hypersensitive)
to
Amylmetacresol,
Dichlorophenylcarbinol or any of
the other inactive ingredients

You have an intolerance to certain
sugars such as fructose, glucose-
galactose and sucrose-isomaltose.

Are under 6 years old.
PREGNANCY AND BREAST-FEEDING
It is not recommended to use this
product if you think you are pregnant,
are pregnant or are breastfeeding.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for
advice before taking any medicine.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
A red to purple coloured circular lozenge with a characteristic taste
of warm plum and ginger. Strepsils brand icon is
intagliated on both sides.
PHARMACODYNAMICS
Dichlorophenylcarbinol and amylmetacresol have antiseptic properties.
PHARMACOKINETICS
Pharmacokinetically the active ingredients, when present in a dosage
form such as a lozenge, will exert their desired
effect locally on the oropharynx.
INDICATIONS
For the symptomatic relief of mouth and throat infections.
RECOMMENDED DOSE
For oral administration
Adults and children (over 6 years old): One lozenge to be dissolved
slowly in the mouth every 2-3 hours up to a
maximum of 12 lozenges in 24 hours.
Elderly: There is no need for dosage reduction in the elderly.
Not suitable for children under 6 years.
ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION
Oral
CONTRAINDICATION
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
WARNING AND PRECAUTIONS
Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children.
Patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance,
glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase
insufficiency should not take this medicine.
Effects on ability to drive and use machines
No adverse effects known.
INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER MEDICAMENTS
No clinically significant interactions are known.
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
The safety of Strepsils Warm Ginger Lozenges during pregnancy and
lactation has not been established, but is not
considered to constitute a hazard during these periods
.
SIDE EFFECTS
Occasional hypersensitivity reactions.
SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENT OF OVERDOSE
Overdosage should not present a problem other than gastrointestinal
discomfort. Treatment should be symptomatic.

Do not store above 30°C
