2. WHAT GLYCOFOR TABLETS ARE USED FOR
The name of your medicine is Glycofor tablets. Glycofor tablets belong
to
group of medicines called oral antidiabetics. These medicines work by
redu-
cing the level of sugar in the blood.
Glycofor tablets are used for the treatment of a type of diabetes
which usu-
ally only occurs in adults and is not normally severe enough to need
insu-
lin. For some patients Glycofor may be used in combinations with
insulin or
other anti-diabetic tablets called sulphonylureas. Glycofor alone is
not suit-
able for those patients for whom sulphonylurea therapy has failed.
Patients
with serious acute illnesses, including diabetic coma and pre-coma,
should
normally be treated with insulin rather than metformin.
